Controlled Shipping – Level 1 (CS1) requires the supplier to contain suspect material. Suppliers routinely partner with SCSI to perform this service. Beyond the general containment, SCSI also takes the next steps to identify the root cause of the defect and incorporate permanent corrective actions and finally verify that the corrective actions are effective.
Controlled Shipping – Level 2 (CS2) occurs when the supplier has failed to correct repeat issues or has major quality problems. Suppliers often partner with SCSI to ensure conforming shipments arrive at the customer’s facility. During the CS2 project, SCSI can also provide engineering services to help ensure the root cause analysis and corrective actions begun in CS1 continue or are revisited until they are effective as verified by the data reported from the inspection processes.
